Where to stay in Rockaway Beach: Although Rockaway Beach is a resort town, you won't find a lot of "very nice" options for places to stay or eat (other than, of course, La Casa dels Aigua Molls). Here are a few places that you can check out. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call us and ask. This is not an exhaustive list. Recommended: Twin Rocks Oceanfront Motel 877.355.2391 Very nice small motel with some ocean front cabins. Very popular all summer long, so book as early as possible. About 3 blocks from La Casa dels Aigua Molls.
Beach and Beyond Vacation Rentals 503.355.2975 www.rockawayrentals.com This rental service has two nice houses within a block of La Casa dels Aigua Molls- Samarkand and Breaker Haven. Samarkand is a great ocean front house that has an incredible view.
Silver Sands Motel 800.457.8972 Old and a little funky, but ocean front views are good. Has an indoor swimming pool. In the main part of Rockaway Beach about a half mile from La Casa dels Aigua Molls.
Ocean Rogue Inn 503.355.2093 www.oceanrogueinn.com Also a little funky, but nice location and on the beach (without great views from the rooms). About a 5 minute walk from La Casa dels Aigua Molls.
Getaway Motel 800.756.5552 www.getawayoceanfront.com A short walk from La Casa. Very old and almost scary looking from the outside. These are individually owned condos that are managed as a motel. Some of the units have been recently been remodeled and are very nice- make sure that you get one of those. The others you should avoid.
Where to eat in Rockaway Beach (and nearby):
Rising Star Café (92 Rorvik St, Wheeler) This little restaurant in Wheeler, just a few miles south of Manzanita, is becoming one of our favorite places to eat on the coast. The place is tiny, the menu is small, but the food is prepared by a serious chef. They're generally open for breakfast and lunch on the weekends. Check to make sure they’re open for dinner. Whale Spout (Rockaway Beach)- great breakfast. The new owners as of July 2010 are our Rockaway neighbors.
Wanda's (Nehelem)- we love Wanda's for breakfast. They also have an excellent patio.
Dos Rocas (Rockaway Beach)- Mexican that is light on the cheddar cheese.
Fisherman's Korner Restaurant (Garibaldi pier)- more atmosphere than you can imagine. But really good fish and chips!
Terra Cotta (Manzanita)- good place for a nice, not too fancy dinner and a glass of wine.
