- 2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup dried fruit, like apricots, raisins or apples
- 1 tbsp nuts chopped, pecans or walnuts
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 ½ cups milk
- ½ cup apple sauce or 1 small apple grated
- 2 tbsps butter melted
- 1 egg beaten
Place all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir together. Add remaining ingredients and stir until well combined. Pour mixture into a buttered 8" x 8" baking dish. Bake at 375º for 20 to 25 minutes until set. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Slice into squares and serve hot. Leftovers reheat well in a microwave oven.
