Bollywood Theater has been on my “places to try” list for a while and it did not disappoint. The space is very casual and the prices are reasonable. For me the curries were forgettable, but their street food is amazing, and I have never seen dishes like this in our area. We started with their samosas and roasted winter squash with chilies and yogurt. Even Mark, who is not a squash eater, was still talking about that dish the next day. My two favoriteswere their kati roll- a paratha (bread) filled with chicken, pickled onion and chutney rolled into the best burrito I’ve ever eaten, and their vada pav which seems like it could beIndia’s answer to White Castle. It was a small bun topped with a spiced potato patty that had been battered and fried. It sounds a bit strange but it works and I’m looking forward to having it on our next trip.
Update October 2013: Indian street food is amazing. I was excited to revisit this restaurant because I have been dreaming about their Vada Pav ever since our first visit. Vada Pav are spicy potato patties dipped in chickpea batter and fried. They are served on small buns with chutney: the most amazing slider you will ever eat.
