This restaurant is old school, opening in 1999, in a 19th century building. They specialize in beef grilled on a traditional parrilla. So of course we had steaks. They served us a dish of chopped grilled eggplant in a vinaigrette with our bread that was so tasty we could have ordered more but needed to save room for the rest of the meal. We had perfectly cooked steaks with grilled vegetables, potatoes and chimichurri sauce. For desert which we did not need but wanted to try we had rice pudding brule with mangos, it was worth being overly full. www.parrilladonjulio.com.ar

This is a new trendy restaurant opened by Chef Martin Reboudino who is a rising star in Argentina. When we sat down we were served a shot glass of Vichyssoise and a bite of potatoes cooked 2 ways with chopped peppers, both were small but full of flavor. Mark ordered the Chilean mussels marinara to start which was so big it could have been his meal. I had a garden salad with brie and trout gravlax . For our main course Mark had salmon and white beans, I had white fish with black olive gnocchi, and squid. We shared an apricot tatin with pink grapefruit sorbet for dessert. All of our dishes were beautifully plated and tasted amazing. If you are in Buenos Aires check this place out. www.rouxresto.com
